The cold plunge sessions take place every Sunday at 2pm, regardless of the weather, since 2023. Join our community of over 500 participants.

Is the cold plunge in Lausanne free?

Yes. The sessions with The Cold Club Lausanne are completely free and open to all levels.

Do I need experience to participate in the cold plunge?

Not at all. Our sessions are beginner-friendly and supported by the community.

What are the benefits of cold plunging?

A number of scientific research studies have proven the benefits of cold exposure and also the risks. We recommend that you do your own research based on your objectives or specific case.

What is the water temperature of Lac Léman?

The temperature of Lac Léman varies by season: approximately 5-8°C in winter, 10-15°C in spring and autumn, and 18-24°C in summer. The coldest and most invigorating temperatures are from October to April.

How long should I stay in the cold water?

For beginners, we recommend 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Regular practitioners can progress up to 3-5 minutes. Listen to your body and never force it.

What should I bring to a cold plunge session?

Bring a swimsuit, a towel, warm clothes for afterwards (hat, gloves if needed), and optionally water shoes. In winter, a bathrobe is appreciated.

Are there any health contraindications for cold plunging?

Cold plunging is not recommended for people with heart problems, uncontrolled hypertension, pregnancy, or other serious medical conditions. Consult your doctor if in doubt.

Do sessions happen in winter?

Yes. Sessions take place every Sunday year-round, including winter. Water temperatures are often between 5 and 8°C.

No, it's not mandatory to know how to swim. You can stay on the steps or in shallow areas.

Are there changing rooms or showers?

The Ouchy swimming platform has public changing rooms nearby. Most participants change on site with a towel. There are no hot showers at the location.

How many people participate in the sessions?

Attendance varies with weather and season: usually between 10 and 40 people per session. Over 500 different people have participated since launch.

Do you use the Wim Hof method?

No, we do not practice or support the Wim Hof method. Our sessions are based on a friendly and collective approach to cold water swimming, without affiliation to a specific method.

Practicing the Wim Hof method without training or guidance can be dangerous. It is strongly advised not to practice alone and without a safe supervised environment.

How do I prepare for my first time?

Come with an open mind and no pressure. Breathe calmly before entering, immerse yourself gradually, and get out when needed. Warm up well afterwards.
